RIDLEY PARK GOTW #1

The 2020 Rildey Park Wiffleball League season gets underway with a marquee match up putting the Diamondbacks, captained by Sean Bingnear, against the Phillies, captained by Colin Pollag. Adam Milsted starts for the Diamondbacks with young flame thrower Ethan Pekco working the last inning for the Phillies.

 

 

WEEK OF 6/01/2020

UNITED WIFFLE® BALL 2020 NCT PRESS RELEASE

United Wiffle®Ball officially announces that its inaugural national championship tournament will take place at PeoplesBank Park - home of the Atlantic League’s York Revolution - in York, Pennsylvania this October. Members of both the York Revolution and United Wiffle®Ball provide comments about what promises to be an historic event.

UNITED WIFFLE®BALL LIVE

To cap off a day of announcements, the United Wiffle®Ball committee went live on the Goldenstick Wiffle®Ball League YouTube channel to discuss the 2020 event, chat with wifflers from around the country, and answer questions about the new endeavor.

WILL OPENING DAY RECAP

The Wiff is Life League - switching from a scheduled league format to a draft tournament format in 2020 - kicked off its season on May 31st with their Opening Day event. The Assassins (Steve Keelon, Chris Sarnowski) ran over the competition, going 6-0 to take the tournament title. Sarno threw all 39 (2-out) innings for his team and his 5th inning championship game walk off sealed the tournament.

CIRCLE CITY OPENING WEEK PREVIEW

The CCW 2020 season opens up with a bang on June 1st as the 2019 champs the 8-Balls led by 2019 MVP Mike Speek Jr. take on the Noodlers led by CCW rookie - but competitive Wiffle®Ball veteran - Caleb Jonkman. Catch the action 7:00 PM on 6/1!

 

SPW TOURNAMENT #2 RECAP

There is not a lot of competitive Wiffle®Ball being played at the moment, but there has been no shortage of it in Louisiana where Sycamore Park Wiffle® is already two tournaments into their 2020 season! The Outlaws rode the right arm of Riley Viator to take home tournament #2 in 8-innings over the Renegades.

RPWL DRAFT RESULTS

The Ridley Park draft took a late and unexpected turn with one team exiting the league altogether. Now that the dust as settled, the immensely talented Philadelphia area league looks set for another very competitive season. Royals | Expos | Cardinals | Angels | Pirates | Blue Jays | Dodgers |

 

GETTING TO KNOW: DEVIN TORRES

Devin Torres had a huge 2019 season, finishing 2nd in Palisades WBL, 1st in Mid Atlantic, and helping his team to top 8 finish at the Fast Plastic Texas Open. Devin discusses his MAW season saving catch from last September, his ERL teammates, and his athletic background in this 20-minute video interview!

WSEM DRAFT RESULTS

For the 2nd time in as many years, Kyle Tomlinson and Scott Kujawa went first and second, respectively, in the Wiffle® in Southeast Michigan draft. Sophomore player Caden Irwin - coming off a rookie campaign where he finished top 5 in AVG and WHIP - went third overall to the Islanders.

 
 

MLW: MALLARDS VS. MAGIC

The Mallards and Magic meet for the first time ever in the MLW regular season. The teams split the two-game series with the Magic winning a close one in dramatic fashion and the Mallards hitting back with a 7-4 victory in part two of the double header.
